  3. Doncaster Concert Band - From a idea conceived by Matt Alderson (founder
and current chairman) and formulated along with Colin Latimer and Captian
Peter Sumner, M.B.E., Doncaster Concert Band (DCB) was formed in 1994. From a simple announcement, 28 players turned up to the first rehearsal and constituted a complete band from the start. Since then the band has become a charity and performed varied concert programmes every year. Concerts with the South Yorkshire Police Male Voice Choir have been a regular feature as have been invitations to play at Doncaster races. Brodsworth Hall provides an attractive outdoor 'bandstand' venue for DCB for spring and summer concerts. Recent new ventures have been the 1998 Christmas Concert and the November 11th Armistice Day Concert; hopefully these will remain on the band's regular schedule. Proceeds from concerts have been given to many good causes including hospitals, churches, schools, service and other charities.

  11. Wheatsheaf Singers - This small group of dedicated young singers quickly became renowned across the North of England for the high standard of their performances. As their fame spread, so did the locations of their concerts. In 1956 the choir found themselves on their first, of what would become many, trips abroad. They had been invited to attend the twinning ceremony of Doncaster with St. Germain-en-Laye in France. This exciting experience whetted the choir?s appetite and European tours became an important part of the choir?s development. The most exciting of its tours was in 1994 when it was invited to sing in South Carolina, U.S.A.
